Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs pork jowl good for 4-6 people
  • SmellaQue Kitchen Pantry spice rub
  • Your favorite sweet spice rub I used Simply Marvelous Sweet Seduction rub
  • 3-4 packages of your favorite ramen
  • 1 lb broccolini
  • 1 cup cooked corn kernels
  • 4 soft boiled ramen eggs
  • 1 bunch of green chives sliced thin
  • Sesame seeds optional garnish

Instructions

  • Warm up grill, prefer to set it up indirect, pouring one chimney of lump charcoal on the far side of the grill from the thermometer. When warm, grill temperature should be about 275-300F.
  • Meanwhile, lay the pork jowls in a single layer onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle a heavy layer of SmellaQue Kitchen Pantry spice rub. Then sprinkle a heavy layer of sweet spice rub (I used Simply Marvelous Sweet Seduction rub).
  • Flip the pork jowls over and repeat seasoning with SmellaQue Kitchen Pantry spice rub and then sweet spice rub.
  • When grill temperature is 275-300F, place the seasoned pork jowl on the grill, on the indirect side (not above the charcoal) for 10 minutes, where the grill side begins to brown.
  • Flip the pork jowls onto the other side and grill another 10 minutes.
  • Remove the jowls from the grill when both sides are browned or when internal temperatures is at least 165F, preferably 180F and allow to rest at room temperature.
  • Prepare ramen according to package instructions, while cooking broccolini until it turns bright green and remove from pot.
  • Meanwhile, cook soft boiled ramen eggs. Prick a hole into the bottom of each egg with a needle. Add 1/2 inch of water to boil in a pot. Place cold eggs to the pot, Boil for 6.5 minutes, run the eggs under cold water or ice-water bath for 30 seconds. Peel eggs and set aside.
  • Warm cooked corn kernels
  • Slice pork jowls into thin strips across the grain.
  • Prepare ramen with stock in the bottom of the bowl, add broccolini, corn kernels, slice soft boiled eggs in half and a generous portion of grilled pork jowl.
  • Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
