Caramelized Maple Brussel Sprouts

Caramelized Maple Brussel Sprouts

Caramelized maple brussel sprouts adds a completely new dimension to the brussel sprouts your grew up with. You'll be delighted to enjoy these little cabbages at the table.

  • Frying pan with lid

Ingredients
  

  • Drizzle of vegetable oil
  • 1 lb or 3 cups brussel sprouts trimmed and cut in half lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 1-2 tablespoons steak spice rub I like Blues Hog Bold & Beefy
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Heat frying pan on medium heat with drizzle of vegetable oil.
  • Once oil is shimmering, place brussel sprouts cut side down onto the pan.
  • Place lid on top of the frying pan, until brussel sprouts show a bright green colour, about 5 minutes.

  • Remove the lid and allow the brussel sprouts on pan surface to caramelize a brown color, about 2-5 minutes.
  • Turn brussel sprouts to caramelize the rounded side of the brussel sprouts, about 5 minutes.

  • Add bacon to the pan and generously sprinkle with steak rub and drizzle maple syrup.
  • Toss to combine. Serve hot.
